Welcome to the recap of RGU's first Halo: Reach custom games! Hosted on October 3 by yours truly, we maintained a good 10-14 person group throughout the event. While, as expected in our first custom game session, the maps mostly supported slayer only, we still found lots of variety and kept a very entertaining party going. Thank you very much to everyone involved, and we hope to continue to improve the attendance week by week. Without further ado, we'll get to the screenshot recap, which features three of the games played every week.
Game 1: Stockpile on Vertigo
Vertigo, a competitive map for 4v4 to 6v6, is my own creation and not yet available for download. Playing standard Stockpile, the game was neck-and-neck throughout, and victory was decided from an 8 to 8 tie to a 10 to 8 win.
The middle crossfire hosts a large amount of the battles here.
A narrow escape.
After going black screen, I found this in theater. Not much else to say; I found it and have no idea what the hell it is.
Wait, am I on the wrong side?
Game 2: Multi Flag on Cascade
Cascade, a complex competitive map made by Reykjavik, was texted next in our party as the flag mayhem continued. Our party stretched to 14 for much of this portion, and the spawns held up well and made for an intense, down-to-the-wire game.
A vantage point.
The center choke point, where matches immediately get hectic.
...This was taken inside red base. With a 2-2 score. There are two more blue opponents behind the wall.
That was it for our custom game recap. But wait, Nevz, I thought we saw three games per event? I haven't passed Calculus yet, but I only count 2? Explain?!
You're right. But that's it for custom games - this week, we finish off with my friend and fellow staff member alexybz testing out a new firefight variant, which will be used in our first ever site contest.
Game 3: Shock Combat on Corvette
If you like infinite armor lock, concussion rifles and hunters, you'll enjoy this gametype. If not, you'll quickly acquire the taste, because there is something highly fulfilling of using your endless rounds, blasting away at seemingly-invincible crews of hunters while making use of your teammate's armor-locking tactics to take turns.
Yebba gets into a slight predicament.
I help him blast his way out.
Reinforcements.
Alright, that's it for this event. Custom games and other recap-worthy events can happen any time so be prepared. you can expect these recaps to usually be released within a couple days of the event's termination. Again, thank you to all those who attended and we look forward to custom game #2.
